The date of establishing and history: Nukus State Pedagogical Institute named after Ajiniyaz (NukSPI), the oldest Higher Education University in the region, was established in 1934. It was named after Ajiniyaz, the distinguished philosopher of the Aral Coast Area of the middle of the ХIХ century and one of the classics of the Karakalpak poetry. The main objective of the institute is the preparation of pedagogical, scientific and vocational training personnel for the continuing education system. Plenty of the local authorities, distinguished education workers, workers of the national economy, culture and science used to study at different periods of time at NukSPI. Its graduates live today in different regions of Uzbekistan, in neighboring Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and in other republics of Central Asia have made a big contribution in upbringing the younger generation of their society.
The number of faculties and departments: The educational process in NSPI is based on a multi-level system. 11 faculties of the Institute are involved in the training of the highly qualified teaching personnel in 27 fields of baccalaureate and in 19 specializations of master’s degrees. The scholars of the Institute are engaged in more than 50 fields of research work. Besides, they study the reason and consequences of the Aral Sea disaster and develop scientific methods of improving the ecological and social-economic situation in the region. The Institute has all the necessary conditions to train a new generation of personnel: The qualified professorial-teaching staff consisting of 2 academicians; 511 doctors, professors, and assistant teachers. They are known as the state grant recipients, distinguished scholars and education system workers, laureates of state awards and professionals awarded with medals for achievements in the sphere of education. 10221 students are studying at 27 BS educational directions and 19 specialized MS degrees of Nukus State Pedagogical Institute named after Ajinyaz.
