UniCEN Workshop: Tashkent, Uzbekistan (January 30-February 1, 2020)

American Councils for International Education, a non-governmental organization based in Washington, D.C., USA will hold a seminar for representatives of the  Ministry of Higher and Secondary-Specialized Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan on January 29, 2020, as well as trainings and masterclasses for heads of international departments of higher educational institutions of the Republic of Uzbekistan from January 30 to February 1, 2020.

In accordance with the tasks of systemic reform of higher education in the Republic of Uzbekistan outlined in the “Development Concept of the public education system by 2030”, these seminars will be aimed at accelerating the processes of learning and adopting best international experiences into practice which is directed at improving the educational processes in the country. In particular, among the stated topics are the creation and development of international partnerships, internationalization of higher education institutions, US Experience in Creating Transfer Technology Centers and Startups, development of public-private partnerships in higher education, publications in authoritative international scientific journals with a high impact factor, commercialization of research results in higher educational institutions and the attraction of additional funding.

Masterclasses will be held by famous American experts, consultants and representatives of US universities with the participation of the US State Department University Partnership Coordinator from the Press and Public Diplomacy Department. The Republic of Uzbekistan has confirmed the participation of more than 50 heads and employees of international departments of various higher institutions from all over the country. Project financing is carried out by the Central Asia University Partnerships Program (UniCEN) funded by the US Embassy in Tashkent to promote higher education collaboration between the US and Central Asian universities.

UniCEN has already financed 9 cooperation programs between universities in Tashkent, Andijan, Ferghana, Urgench and American universities located in various states of the USA. As a result of the seminar, universities in the Republic of Uzbekistan will develop the foundations for grant applications with their future American university partners. New grants will be awarded to American universities in 2020 to start new partnerships as well as expand existing partnerships with universities in Uzbekistan.
