Paper Scoring Rubric

Scoring Rubric:

Outstanding (A to B+):  The individual research paper is well-developed, in-depth, and sophisticated.  It effectively explores Unit V’s required readings in terms of the assigned topic.  There is evidence of comprehensive research integrated into a sound analysis and discussion of the assigned topic.  From five to ten outside sources are referred to in the discussion, with at least three from contemporary professional education journals.  The sources from which information/data is drawn reflect a high degree of self-directed exploration and basic research skills.  There are no syntax and grammar errors and no spelling mistakes.  There is a strict following of APA format in terms of academic writing in the broad field of education.  Rules regarding the number of pages, spacing, etc. are carefully followed.

Adequate (B to C+):  The research paper is well-developed.  The content is based on sound reasoning and evidence and reflects an average understanding of the required readings of Unit V.   There is evidence of comprehensive research, professional information and knowledge related to the assigned topic.  There is a minimum of errors in syntax and grammar, few spelling errors and  “typos,” and there is a good use of APA format in terms of academic writing.  Rules regarding the number of pages, spacing, etc. are adequately followed.

Inadequate (C to C-):  The research paper indicates and reflects a below adequate college-level effort and response to meet the eFolio performance task requirements.

No Evidence (D+ to F).  The research paper is not developed either partially or totally.  There is no evidence of any following of the eFolio performance task requirements.
